Munich: Control and monitoring equipment for the airport
Tens of thousands of passengers passed through the Munich international airport each day on their way to and from the whole wide world. F&S delivered and installed solutions for terminal functional control as well as passenger flow control on Terminal 2 and its satellite; these solutions provide automated, dynamic handling of passenger logistics during normal operations, as well as for all types of disturbance events.
North sea offshore: Control and monitoring systems for the Energy Transition
The offshore wind farm MEERWIND SÜD-OST consists of many subsystems that can only meet functional requirements once integrated into an overall system. The wind farm's AC offshore platform is unmanned and cannot be accessed at all times due to weather conditions. This makes it all the more important to have a reliable system for which all important functions can be remotely monitored and controlled.
This holistic management tool, the superordinate control technology installed in the wind turbines, on the AC platform, as well as in the onshore central control room and the Heligoland service station as a backup operating system, was developed by F&S.
The basis of the overall system is the object and building-block library of our company, which enables a standardized representation and operation of various wind farm systems.
After the individual sub-systems, such as turbine switchgears, had successfully completed factory testing, the superordinate control and monitoring system was installed and tested on the offshore substation platform in port. Only subsystems that were not available in port were put into operation and tested offshore.
North sea: Good climate for a 900 MW offshore converter substation platform
F&S implemented the control and instrumentation technology for air conditioning, ventilation, and smoke extraction for the high-voltage DC platform DOLWIN Gamma.
The automation and control systems for air conditioning systems, such as hazard response systems for smoke and fire on an offshore high-voltage DC platform, are not only a functional challenge with their almost forty thousand pieces of information to process. F&S took on the project in the last third of the planned project duration, and, in close cooperation with the shipyard and the certification authority, not only set up and implemented the automation project from scratch, but also successfully passed the certification process in record time. An important foundation for this efficient, successful project was our object and building-block library for control and instrumentation technology.
From Duisburg to Emsland: Control and monitoring systems for north-German waterways
From Duisburg to Emsland - F&S distrbuted control and monitoring technology has been deployed for safely operating over twenty locks and lift bridges from four remote operating centers in Herbrum, Meppen, Bergeshövede, and Herne.

Frankfurt a. M.: Construction and renovation of inner-city substations
Energy supply for a large city - aside from providing solutions for newly constructed substations, F&S conducted renewal of the auxiliary systems for several 30 kV and 110 kV substations without interrupting operations. An integrated simulation concept guaranteed safety during each phase of construction, as well as providing flexibility during system changes.

These solutions consist of a plant network control system embedded in the supply network (electricity, heating, cooling), including automatic grid management from load shedding to grid re-starting, power plant control and instrumentation, generator management, building fire response, and water treatment.
Since the year 2000, these infrastructure systems have been continually growing – the solutions from F&S have retained their expandability and have enabled this growth.

The distributed generation systems for heat and electricity in Dresden are operated from one control center. Thanks to integrated control and instrumentation solutions from F&S based on a versioned object catalog for generator systems, these systems operate smoothly and are easily maintained.
Schmölln (Lausitz): From a double to a triple bus system for more flexilbility and reliability
Many of the 110 kV distribution substations with up to 30 fields have been renovated within the last 15 years and expanded to include complete triple bus systems - mostly, this work was done without requiring service interruptions. F&S was the project partner for switchgear control and instrumentation.
